On June 3, the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines and the Association for Philippines-China Understanding (APCU) jointly held the 6th “China-Philippines Bridge of Understanding Award” ceremony in Manila. Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Jing Quan, APCU Chairman Carlos R. Lambito, and Philippine Presidential Special Envoy for China Affairs Wilfredo S. Uy delivered remarks. Former Philippine President and APCU Honorary Chairperson Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo gave a video address, while Senator Loren Legarda sent a congratulatory message. Over 400 representatives from various sectors in the Philippines attended the event. Former National Security Adviser Clarita Carlos and Wilson Go, Chairman of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) Baguio-Benguet Chapter, were honored with this year’s “China-Philippines Bridge of Understanding Award.”

Chinese hybrid rice expert and Chief Scientist of LMA, Professor Zhang Zhaodong, has been awarded the Laureate Award as the only non-Filipino recipient this year. This honor marks a milestone in China-Philippines agricultural technology cooperation and stands as a vivid testament to the deep mutual understanding and close friendship between the two nations.
